Drawing on the work of New York Abstract Expressionists, the Broad collection is punctuated by gestural brush strokes and collage, but is also inspired by David Salle’s juxtaposed and layered imagery. The Broad series is the most figurative of SLWLRNR’s works and aims to evoke an eroticism and intimacy with human form.

The mark making highlighted in these works evokes fluid dynamics. Taken with elements of collage and text, it brings together a very literal, grounded street feeling with the ethereal and ghostly. “Ghosts” emerge from the generative, iterative process as from a collection of anonymous photographs — forgotten.
Nova

The Nova series uses bold natural mark making to marry a view of our earthy flora with the telescoping view out into our universe, evoking space nebulae. But rooting both elements in collage and street posters photography makes the elusive accessible.

The latest collection in the Nova series continues to use generative iteration on the familiar pattern of the Nova series, but brings greater texture into the works, elevating the violence of these two forms interacting.
